Finishing 2017 and wondering where it went. No question, I have learned more about my place in this world than any year prior – yet there is a real sense of more ahead.
I’ve been contemplating what this website really exists for, and mostly, what role music will play in my future going forward. Writing and recording music for the love of doing it, has made being a “musician” a much more satisfying venture.
In an effort to keep my life as simple as possible, I have all but removed myself from the social media world, which, has been incredibly liberating and insightful. Simply, learning to intentionally contribute to other people’s lives, rather than trying to sell my own, has taught me that when we get out of our own way and think beyond the impression we are trying to portray, we are free to see the needs of those around us. Adopting a people-over-things mindset has, (of course) shifted my outlook on who I need to be, rather than who I want people to think I am. Especially as it relates to my “identity” as a musician.
Though I have managed to unplug from much of the interweb, I will keep this site going and direct my thoughts and (eventually) new music here.
In light of a new year ahead, ill end on this quote from The Minimalists:
Love people, use things. The opposite never works.
